Roberto Coin gets into the Olympic spirit

New York—Luxury jewelry designer Roberto Coin has created several new pieces, including a pair of golden sneakers, to help Olympic fans celebrate their spirit and remember the 2008 Olympic Games, being held currently in Beijing, China.

Among the designs are three pendant necklaces: one featuring a panda, another bearing a peace sign and the final piece a diminutive 18-karat gold boxing glove.

"The Boxing Glove" retails for $620 and is part of the brand's "Tiny Treasure Collection." Crafted in 18-karat white gold with diamonds, the pendant is a nod to all of the U.S. boxing greats, including Mohammed Ali and "Sugar" Ray Leonard, plus Olympic boxing team members Luis Yanez and Demetrius Andrade.

The "Symbol of Peace" is a diamond pav=é pendant in 18-karat white gold. Featuring a classic peace symbol, the brand says the design simply reflects what Olympic spirit is all about. The piece retails for $520.

For those who have an appreciation for Chinese culture or just think pandas are cute, "The Panda" pendant is available for $1,580 and is crafted in 18-karat white gold with diamonds and black sapphires.

Momentarily breaking away from jewelry, Coin dipped into shoe design to come up with the "Golden Sneaker." Made of high-tech 24-karat gold varnished with nappa leather and coated with a PVC-lacquered film, the sneakers weigh in at a retail price of $31,000 and are finished off with an 18-karat yellow gold clasp and Coin's signature ruby.
